Golden Shape Books

It is common knowledge, amongst those that know me, that I love all things vintage - music, television, movies, fashion, books, etc.  When I am not "stay-at-home-dadding" my 2 sons, I operate an Ebay store full of vintage goodies.  Books make up the majority of my inventory, and of those, I have a selection of nearly 200 vintage children/young adult books.  Lately, with my own boys, I have found the Golden Shape Book series to be great bedtime books - full of colorful illustrations, uniquely shaped, educational and brief.  Noel has really been enjoying The Raggedy Ann & Andy one.  It is all about what it means to be a friend to someone.

The Bird Golden Shape Book is another favorite.  It is full of beautiful vintage illustrations and descriptions of different types of birds.  Fans of vintage books are always talking about the vivid and warm quality of the books.  Most were done from paintings, so they just have a different feel from modern books.

Sharing vintage books with your children is a great chance to relive some of your own childhood memories, and also a good opportunity to teach them how to care for books.

Mums readers can receive a 20% discount and free shipping on items from my store-just email me to let me know you're a friend of the Mums (and the Dad).  Here is a nice list of the Golden Shape Books to get you started.

Terrible Twos Birthday Party: Day 2

I've written at length about how much I love Boon. They design smart products for babies and kids. I would even go so far as to say Boon is the first children's lifestyle brands, comprising items for bath, mealtime, toy storage, and even jewelry and layette. They've just added three new bathtub toys to their roster and we were thrilled to give them a workout.

Water Bugs are three amorphous critters that float lackadaisically in the bathtub, just waiting to be scooped up in the accompanying net. Cute and well-proportioned for small hands. Also made of recyclable plastic, which I thought was kind of cool.

Splat is a floating ring toss game but I must admit that Roo prefers using the rings as fancy bangle bracelets. Jasper likes to stack things, so once he gets the throwing and aiming down he'll be into it.

Scrubble features three squeezable bulbous eggs with interchangeable textured attachments. Yes, they squirt nicely! And they're easy enough for toddlers to refill themselves. They can even be run through the dishwasher if you're worried about the mold that sometimes plagues squirt toys.

Here are the product testers hard at work! Also visible are the Boon Bath Goods foam shapes and Flo Water Deflector/Faucet Protector. I told you we love Boon!
